About ReSolVe

Supply chains need to keep working as regulations, markets and the climate change. ReSolVe explores how organisations can prepare for these changes and make better long-term decisions.

The project

Decisions about suppliers, production and transport shape a supply chain for years. The conditions behind those decisions rarely stand still.

New requirements, climate pressures and disruptions can change what is affordable, feasible or reliable. A decision that works today may leave an organisation exposed tomorrow. ReSolVe examines how resilience and regulatory readiness can become part of planning from the outset.

The project brings together research on supply-chain design, changing operating conditions and decision support. It aims to help organisations understand their options and weigh continuity, cost, compliance and sustainability together. The resulting knowledge is intended to support both larger companies and smaller businesses in preparing for an uncertain future.

Research gap

Visibility and decisions

Supply chains have greater visibility than ever. Yet regulatory requirements, cascading risks and changing conditions are often assessed separately.

ReSolVe connects them in one planning framework, so organisations can compare responses across continuity, cost and compliance.

A lime route connects two supply networks across a divide, illustrating the link between visibility and resilient planning.

See the disruption

Understand exposure across the network.

Compare responses

Connect risk, regulation and trade-offs.

Plan for resilience

Inform sourcing, inventory and network design.

Research activities

We study how supply chains can remain viable over time: able to continue operating, meet changing requirements and adapt when conditions shift. Our work combines research with practical perspectives across three connected themes.

Regulation

Understanding how changing requirements influence supply-chain choices and what organisations need to consider in their long-term plans.

Disruption

Exploring how disruptions affect connected supply chains and what helps organisations maintain continuity under pressure.

Adaptation

Examining how strategies can evolve as conditions change, with attention to the choices and trade-offs involved.
